Live Wedding Painting
Live Painting on the Day of Your Wedding
Having a live wedding painter at your wedding is so much more than a painting. It’s a unique experience that you and your guests will rave about for years. It’s live entertainment at your wedding reception, it’s a memento that will hang on your wall; a constant reminder of how incredible your big day really was.
Your live painting can be any scene from your ceremony or reception, or even from your pre-ceremony photoshoot. We can even combine elements from different scenes, or highlight specific aspects of your venue, decor, etc. Your painting can be anything you want it to be. Let’s turn your dream wedding into a painting for you to cherish forever.

Your Investment
When you invest in a wedding painting, you are investing in a daily reminder of how great your wedding day really was. This isn’t a file that you have to deliberately open up to see. This isn’t something you are going to put in a box and have to remember to pull out to look at. You will walk past this painting on your wall every single day. This is something from your wedding that will never be forgotten.
Your live wedding painter is the safest investment you will make for your wedding day. No matter what happens, I will put your vision on canvas. If it rains, I will still be able to give you the exact painting you want, even if I have to paint something that wasn’t there. If a global pandemic happens and your wedding gets postponed, I will still paint for you, even if it ends up being from a photo. If it snows three feet in the wee hours of the morning on the day of your wedding and the roads are impassable, and your vendors can’t all make it, and your guests can’t all make it, you will still get a painting from me. Even if the unthinkable happens, you will still get a painting that is meaningful to you.
When you hire me as your live wedding painter…
When you hire me as your live wedding painter, I will be another smiling face doting on you on your big day. Before your wedding, we’ll chat on the phone at least once to ensure that we are on exactly the same page for what you want in your painting. I like to get to know you as much as possible because that gives me a feel for the spirit of the painting. I can literally paint anything you want. Do you want your dog in your painting? You got it. Do you want me to highlight and feature your floral arrangements? Done. I can modify and alter anything to be anything you want, or I can paint a scene exactly as it was. This is YOUR wedding and this is YOUR painting.
During your reception, I’ll set up so your guests can watch the painting progress throughout the night. They can stand over my shoulder, they can chat with me, ask questions, provide opinions — we all have that family member, am I right? ;) I will enthusiastically welcome interactions from children, along with the billion questions that often come with them, and I truly adore the unfiltered opinions of toddlers and the very littles. I will dance while painting when your DJ plays my jams, and I can’t promise you won’t hear me singing, too.
With my services, you get a live painting with a studio finish. I will take your painting home to add details, finishing touches, and make any corrections I need to make. Your painting isn’t done until I’m beaming with pride and joy and can’t wait to show you. I will also put a varnish on it to protect it from the elements and preserve it for your lifetime.
I am happy to paint for any couple of any race, gender (or non-), sexual orientation, religion, etc. As long as you are a decent person, we will get along just fine.
Frequently Asked Questions

You should book your live painter as soon as possible. We're often booked only a couple months in advance, but here's the thing: you get a better deal if you book a year out. With each wedding a live painter does, we get better. So if you book a year in advance, you are getting this year's prices for next year's skills. That could be hundreds of dollars in savings. Plus, if it's really important to you to have a live painter at your wedding, you don't want to risk not getting the one you really want because they're already booked.
-
The simple answer is: anyone you want. While I specialize in just the couple getting married, I am happy to add anyone you want into your live painting. When you contact me, to get an accurate quote, I'll need to know how many people you want painted, as only the couple is included in my base rate, but I can add other guests, people who weren't really there, or even your pets! Your wish is my command :)

I will take your painting home to do a studio finish, and that is a benefit of working with me. On the day of your wedding, I will arrive a few hours early to start sketching the composition and painting the background. As soon as I am able, I will switch my focus to the couple. The goal by the end of the night is to have the big picture visible and for the couple to be recognizable. I will take your painting home at the end of the night and will give it a studio finish. This allows me to add in more details, make any color corrections, and generally ensure that I am proud of your painting. It's not done until I'm proud of it and it meets my expectations. Then, I will put a protective varnish on it and you can either come pick it up, or I can ship it to you. Your painting will usually take about four weeks to complete.
-
Yup. That's why I'm here :) If you wanted a photograph of an exact scene, you wouldn't need me. My job is to consider the composition of the painting and make sure you are the focus of it, and to make sure it includes the elements of your wedding that are most meaningful to you. I can move people and modify spaces to make your painting look its best.
-
Absolutely. I'll take reference photos and videos with my phone so I can paint anything you want me to paint wherever you want me to paint it. I have moved locations up to three times at one event, and it's not a problem :)
-
I'll want to get in touch with your venue coordinator and/or your wedding planner to make sure we're all on the same page- the last thing we want are surprises. In general, all I need is a 4'x6' space and access to water. I bring everything that I need :)
On a related note, I do require a vendor meal, as I will spend 8+ hours onsite.

Uniqueness, entertainment, and a memento from your day unlike any other. At every single wedding I paint at, guests are always in awe that live wedding painting is even a thing. Most guests have never seen a live wedding painter before. Some have heard of it or seen live painting online, but not in person. Occasionally, I interact with a guest who tells me they saw a live wedding painter at another wedding, but they are no less starstruck by the mere idea of live wedding painting. If you want something special at your wedding that will make your wedding stand out and have your guests raving about for years to come, a live wedding painter is something you should consider. The best part of all, is that you get to work with me to decide exactly what you want in your painting so it is special and meaningful to you, and just a few short weeks after your wedding, you get to hang this incredible piece of original art on your wall.

If you just want the painting and don't care about the live entertainment part, you should consider a commission. I can make any modifications in a commission project that I can make in a live painting. If it's all about the big day and having something special on the day of, then you want a live painter. If you get your wedding photos back and there's one you'd really like painted, then you should commission it. If you are unsure of what you want, we should talk! I'm happy to provide guidance and bounce ideas back and forth.
Will I give you some sort of bundle discount if you do a live painting AND a commission? You bet. I want to help you fill your home with original art that is meaningful to you.
